At home Spa – The Body Shop Spa of the World™ French Grape Seed Scrub

The Body Shop is one of those internationally well known cruelty free brands that has quality product for affordable price. What i really liked about the brand other then shower products and scents, are how the company works to prevent testing on animals as well as striving to be more sustainable and natural as possible.

I went to visit a store whilst in Indonesia to get my mom some body soap, and saw a lot of products within the “Spa of the World” line. The sales lady told me that this “Firming Ritual” part of that line was the latest in Indonesia, and as i like me some spa experience that won’t break my bank or when last minute fix before a wedding that got me on hook to try the scrub out.

UntitledSpa of the World™ French Grape Seed Scrub

The scrub is said to be formulated with grape seed powder from France and Community Trade sugar from Paraguay, which makes the scrub less harsh on the body as there are powder that are mixed in with oils.

Ingredients (from Official Website):

Glycerin, Sucrose, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Parfum/Fragrance, Polyacrylamide, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Aqua/Water/Eau, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil/Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Oenothera Biennis Seed/Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Seed, Laureth-7, Geraniol, Vitis Vinifera Seed Powder/Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Powder, Limonene, Vitis Vinifera Bud Extract/Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Bud Extract, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 19140/Yellow 5 Lake, CI 77288/Chromium Oxide Greens.

Based on the ingredients list, sugar still plays a huge role therefor you still can feel the scrub on your body although less harsh. The oils mixed in helps soften and moisturises the skin.

Recommended method of use

Apply it on arms, tummy, tights and bum area, with a circular motion technique twice a week.
Enjoy the Firming Ritual Spa Routine by using the French Grape Seed Scrub with Ethiopian Green Coffee Cream, Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil and Thai Wooden Massager

The sales person persuaded me to try this specific product out before getting other products from the collection or recommended use, and I did not regret one bit of this product. As i have caught the flu bug these past few of days, all i wanted to do was to treat myself to a spa retreat. As much as i wanted to go for spas and saunas, my body just did not allow me to be outside for more then an hour before feeling feverish. Therefor i could only stay home and have hot showers to help ease stuffy nose. It was the perfect opportunity for me to start cracking the scrub more often.

The sugar particles were small and fine, therefor made easy to scrub onto the body. Being under the air-conditioning  very often, my skin got quite dry skin. And with the hot humid weather, i haven’t found the best body lotions that suits my skin. After the use of The Body Shop’s French Grape Seed Scrub, it helps moisturise after getting rid of rough, dead skin. The last time i tried out a scrub by The Bodyshop, it was a good 4 years ago which you can read here: Chocomania Sugar Body Scrub – The Body Shop. I didn’t like them as much since the sugar particles were a lot larger then the current ones, and not as moisturising.

Price & Size:

499,000 IDR – Approximately SGD50 for 350 ML

Overall, The Body Shop Spa of the World™ French Grape Seed Scrub provided me with an enjoyable DIY spa session at home. It made showering in hot water less painful and drying after, as it brings moisture back to the body. It would probably last me for a good 6 months before running out, but I’m up for getting the recommended accompanying products.

Halloween Horror Night 4 – organised by Resort World Sentosa

Working full time (as an intern) in sentosa has been alright for the past two weeks. The schedules were quite flexible and people are pretty alright at this moment (hey, can’t judge much right? I mean it’s been two weeks). I met some great people around due to induction and so on.

October, other then well known for Oktoberfest, is Halloween month in most countries. This year, I finally am able to experience RWS’s Halloween Horror Night 4th edition, not sentosa’s Spooktacular Halloween event. I brought a long my cousins and a friend of their’s this time right after an F&B hygiene course I’ve taken in Switzerland.

So here goes the pictures for the Halloween Night Horror 4 with my cousins.

We really didn’t have enough time to go around all, there are a lot of people in there. Crowded is an understatement. By the way when you post a picture in USS, where it was located, with the hashtag #hhn4, your picture will float around their big screens.

Earlier this morning till 6pm, I had a Food Hygiene course. I met some really nice kids, some 4 years younger. It was nice just suddenly talking to them though we are random strangers. Other then Joel and Ethel whom I met during the first couple of days (whom are older and or my age) I haven’t gotten along much with people so much younger though.

Bella Box Singapore’s September 2013 theme: Pink Me Up!

Bella Box Singapore’s September 2013 theme: Pink Me Up!

20130916-170742.jpg

Other then the box, one lipgloss, and the information card, there is nothing else that is pink. Although I love this box’s shade of soft pink, the content (in terms of colour and first view of items) is a disappointment to me. After looking at the information card, the themes should be named “Fight age!” Instead of “Pink Me Up!” as what is included in the box are things like beauty collagen, scrubs, essence and eye patches. Looking at the “Pink” section available in their website, it’s pretty misleading as compared to the real box. I see so many pink products from cheeks, lips, and eyeshadow.

Price of each item in full size is stated, but be mindful that Bella Box is a sample size service box, not full size unless stated.

Here is what is in my box
Dr G Total Active Capsule Essence = $19.70
LA clinic GLY C Refine Micro Dermabrasion Facial Scrub = $5.90
Talika Eye Therapy Patch = $20
Model Co Lipgloss = $23
Wish Formula Jjoyy Bubble Peeling Pad = $6.50
Recoliv Beauty Collagen = $ 7.50
Bonus: The Lash Card = $8.90

Total: $91.50

One full size item and the only brand I know of: Model Co Lipgloss. I’ve got to say I love the packaging, it comes with a build in mirror on its side. But formula wise, I have to try it first. But so far, I loved the tint from the previous box I received, from Model Co as well.

Although the worth is $91.50, yet again most of the samples can be asked for free over the counter. Example, the collagen, essence, patch and scrub. I’m essentially paying for the lipgloss and the lash card. But again, the lash card is a bonus. Therefore, I’m paying $20 for a $23 worth of lipgloss. For $21 I can purchase MAC’s gel eyeliner, my definite favourite. But my wish is for the items to be pink, like what the theme said “Pink Me Up”.

Over the course of 3 months, bellabox Singapore has some what disappointed me with products, more then surprised. What I received as a decent size (not sample size worthy) these 3 months are HARNN Jasmine and Pomegranate Hand Cream,Yes To Carrots Lip Tint, Model Co Lipgloss, and Enavose FloraComfort Micellar Cleansing Water. Paying $60 for 3 months worth, it is sort of worth it but I didnt know what to expect from the boxes. But now looking at the other things in the boxes other then the close to full size items, it’s either not worth the $20 or its not worth since they are products that are pretty unknown and quite unavailable in the country or worldwide.

One reason why I decided to try BellaBox Singapore is because I saw subscription services like Birchbox & ipsy in the USA. And goodness how much more things they are getting for a cheaper price or similar. My time with bellabox ends this month as I am leaving Singapore on the 21st. All I can say is I hope bellabox items continues to grow.

REVIEW: July Bellabox Singapore 2013

First subscription box from Bellabox Singapore arrived less then a week ago, arriving 2 weeks late. First impression i had on this service box is already pretty bad due to the tardiness of this box. If it was an oversea box, i won’t mind waiting so long. But the fact that local shipping was delayed for so long, isn’t excusable.
